Anonymity & Enmity
Anonymity is more widespread in the web than in reality. Generally, I hate anonymity. It is a sort of a mask, which is normal in some good situations (on a masquerade), but usually is used in a very evil situations: killers, thefts, executioners...

I hate anonymity because I mostly met it in a very bad situations. It smells of slavery, totalitarianism, lack of freedom or conscience.

Certainly, I will gladly receive a donation from an someone who don't want me to know his/her name. But as far as I understand, large donations never are anonymous, and this is not by chance.

I will communicate with a like-minded person even if he/she writes under nickname.

Still, I will avoid any sort of communication or discussion with an adversary who hides under nickname. May be some day I will meet such an opponent whose argumentation will be so bright and interesting that I will write to him even if he is anonymous. But I think that probability of such case is very low. Really bright and clever person will participate in a tournament under his real name--just I do.

Trochę mi dziwnie... Kto to jest anonim? Jest ten, który nie nazywa swojego imenia temu, z kim rozmawia (lub do kogo pisze). Czemu muszę cały świat informować o tym?

(Przepraszam, że po polsku)

Who is anonym

Anonym is anyone who in principle reject the necessity of unanonymity. P.e., an agressive propagandist of Kremlinism who states that I must discuss his views and not his personality. The problem is that Kremlinism is the system of views which denies personality. So, to agree with anonymity in this case means to agree with views. And, my dear personal friend, I dare to say that any human is created to inform the whole world about his/her personality. This is the sense of being, if not the sense of life. Sometimes it is very hard, but positive effects are larger. I do understand the risks--imagine Your student, relative, boss getting more information than generally is thought to be normal. I avoid such risks, because I avoid writing publicly about my intimate life, only about "views." But to support Your views with Your personality is absolutely necessary. I think there are at least four simply technical decisions: (a) to have two blogs--one for public themes under real name and one for intimate themes under a nick; (b) to have a nick but to mention Your real name in the profile for those who came to be very interested (c) to make Your nick looks like a real name, in this way expressing the desire not be anonymous; (d) to open Your name in private letter to anyone who will ask for it.

Yours Yakov
